John Muir Award
John Muir was a prominent Victorian explorer and conservationist and is known as the father of the National Parks in the United States of America. To achieve their award the children have to Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share a natural place.
As part of their discovery year 3 and 4 have visited the Lake District National Park at Caldbeck and climbed up Fauld’s Brow to look down on Wigton from above.
They are now exploring their school field, which is full of wildlife, and are working on ways to conserve it, including collecting litter, planning habitat improvements and keeping the beck free from pollution.
