Art and Design

Cuthberts (98 of 116)

Art and Design is a way of creative expression for children – a chance for individuality to be exposed to its fullest. At St Cuthbert’s, we allow children to explore their inner artist and develop their creative flair. As children progress, we encourage critical thinking of art work and help all to develop a good understanding of famous artists..

Aims of teaching art and design:

  • produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
  • become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
  • know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms
