About Us

St. Cuthbert's was built to be a Catholic School and, therefore, the Religious Education and all rites and ceremonies are of that Church.  We try to foster a Catholic atmosphere, and the practice of the Christian faith is the aim of the school.

The present school was opened in 1974.

It is situated in its own grounds and has two separate play areas for the Nursery, Infant and Junior children.  We have rented playing field facilities just across the road which we maintain.  There is a parking area at the side of the school and this is used by the staff.

The School is voluntary aided and is in the Western Area of the Cumbria Children’s Services. It is in the Diocese of Lancaster. The number of pupils on Roll as of September 2012 is 113 including a part-time Nursery.
