Year 1

Hello and welcome to Year One.

I am Mrs Gibson and with Miss Stamper we will be guiding the children through their learning journey in Year One.

This is my first year at St Cuthbert's and I am already enjoying getting to know the children. We have had a wonderful first week getting to know our new Classroom together and starting to know the new expectations and routines.

Outside of school I have a son in Primary School in Carlisle and so family time is very important to me. I enjoy visiting historical sites, museums and walking with my son.

I look forward to getting to know you all better in the coming months. Thank you all for the friendly welcome so far.

Important Date for your Diary

On Wednesday evening, 13 September, at 6pm there will be a Key Stage One (Year One and Year Two) information evening. This will be a chance to see what the children will be learning this year and have an introduction to the Statutory Requirements with the Year Two SATs and The Year One Phonics Screening test.

Other dates will be added to the website calendar as the year progresses.

Sports Day 012

Year One had a fantastic afternoon at the multi sports festival. They took part in 16 different events from basketball to football to athletics. They did incredibly well winning third place for good manners and sportsmanship and showed themselves to be wonderful ambassadors for the school. Everyone was very tired after a busy afternoon but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Production line 002

Welcome back in 2018. We have already been working hard in Year One - here we are on a production line making sandwiches. We will be learning about the Polar Regions and reading about The Storm Whale this half term.

Our Newsletter will be with you shortly giving you the key dates for this term. Our assembly will be Friday, 16th March.
